Chelly Ontis
Owner & Graphic Designer
I’ve been in Bismarck since 1992, so it feels like home. I started Elegant Designs in 1997 in the corner of my living room and have enjoyed it every day since. Not many people can say they “love their job,” and actually mean it, every day. Specializing in printed projects for over 20 years and loving to help people build their brand.
Also adding to my job description: Blogger. In October 2016, I’ve created a DIY website, shop and blog specializing in original design files (SVGs) you can use on your Cricut® or other cutting machine for crafting and reselling. The idea sparked from regularly saying to my creative friends, We Can Make That! I invite you to check it out and see all my creative outlets from paper crafting to decor items.
“Do what you love.”
You could call this “my philosophy” or “my vision” for my design studio.
The love for creating things, designing and working with great people is what drives me to keep pursuing my dream job: Elegant Designs.
I’m often asked how I stay focused each day working for myself, and it’s easy to answer. Do what you love.
Graphic design comes naturally for me. And with the flexibility to work when I’m feeling inspired for a project – either 10:00 pm, 4:00 am or 2:00 pm – I’m always close to work. It’s become part of my day, like emptying the dishwasher. Although I do not LOVE emptying the dishwasher. ha!
About Elegant Designs Studio
Since 1997, I have been designing projects from my home studio for a wide range of businesses: state agencies, medical facilities, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, colleges, small and large companies to name a few. My main focus has been to become part of their team in helping to create a wide range of products. I’ve been working with many of my current clients since I opened. So building a relationship and becoming part of your team is crucial to help you succeed.
When I began – many, many years ago – my main source of designing was for projects that end goal was to be printed. Today, many graphic design projects are still printed but more and more are for online relationship building. These all range from: layout and designs of business cards, logos, social media management, directories, mailings, inserts, fliers, newsletters, convention materials, brochures, social media graphics, website graphics and many others.
